Yesterday, I finished watching the series “Lessons in Chemistry” on Apple TV. It’s a beautiful show. I haven’t read the book, but I do look forward to reading it as well sometime in the future.

All the actors have done a fantastic job, and the story is very engaging. Brie Larson’s performance as Elizabeth Zott is especially impressive. The show has a warmth to it, and the characters’ stories are human in nature.

Throughout the show, there are great scenes that are so well-written and acted. One of the things that stands out for me is Elizabeth Zott’s honesty. That honesty creates great things and tough situations at times.

The way she runs the show along with support from her producer, helps create something inspiring and interesting. That makes me think about, if we give people the freedom to do things their way, they can create something beautiful. Rather than micromanaging them, strangulating their creativity. “Why get tempted to follow a fixed template of this worked last time?” let’s be less driven by money and take more chances to create something new.

Chemistry is change and change is the core of your belief system. Which is good because that’s what we need more of – people who refuse to accept the status quo, who aren’t afraid to take on the unacceptable.

The letter correspondence between Calvin and the priest is another one of my favorite parts of the show. Reminded me of times some stranger reached out to me or I reached out to someone on the internet and we had a great conversation. I’m tempted to write an email to the book author and creators of the show, to express my gratitude for creating such a beautiful thing. Maybe I will, if I can find their email addresses or something.

The show gave me a couple of nice book recommendations, which always is a plus.

I can go on but let’s stop here. This show is added to my list of shows that I will rewatch in the future.
