Light Year
- Light Year is the distance light travels in one year. It’s about 9.461 trillion kilometers. Earth is about 8 light minutes away from the sun. The nearest star to us is Proxima Centauri, which is about 4.24 light years away.
- The star Albireo is about 420 light years away from us. To put that in perspective, the light that we see today from Albireo actually left the star 420 years ago. Reminds me of my favorite sci-fi book series “The Three-Body Problem” by Liu Cixin.
- Found this NASA science page quite useful to understand more about light year.

Exoplanets
- An exoplanet is any planet outside our solar system. Most of them orbit other stars, but free-floating exoplanets, called rogue planets, are untethered to any star.
More to follow, enjoying this. The science NASA site looks quite informative.
