This movie, based on a true story, made me feel so many emotions.
It shows how people, through their dedication and kindness, can go beyond their duty to make a profound difference in someone’s life. Those people are the real heroes—in this case, his lawyers.
Despite all the horrible things that happened to Slahi, he kept smiling. He spent 14 years in prison without ever being charged.
I loved the real clips at the end, where he is shown enjoying his life—meeting his friends (his lawyers). In one clip, he sings the beautiful song The Man in Me by Bob Dylan. It was so heartwarming to see him free and happy.
So often, we get upset over small things and complain about them. I hope we do less of that and learn to appreciate what we have.
I’m looking forward to reading his book.
I hope more stories like this come to light so that we can learn from them.
